Panel 1 – Comparing the Market
This panel is a returning annual discovery of what is happening internationally. We are comparing different comedy markets, focussing on a variety of countries, cultures and regions. We will be discussing cultural, political, economical and language barriers; topics such as local vs expat audiences, growth opportunities and marketing & production challenges.
This year’s panel includes industry professionals from Belgium and Scandinavia with a glance into the Netherlands and Iceland. We will follow up on developments in Europe, including Germany, Romania plus further East to Russia and Turkey with our panellists but also some of the delegates in the room.

Panel 2 – The Other Stage – Corporate Considerations
There is a world of gigs outside the relatively safe walls of the Comedy clubs and festivals. Previously we have looked briefly at Comedy competitions and courses. Another area we have tipped on in previous years is acting and writing for Comedy plays. This year we want to look into a different direction: The corporate show in its broadest sense. The panel will to discuss several sides of this type of booking: the role of the acts, agents, corporate booker, client, sponsors.

Panel 3 – Deeper into data – from marketing to bottom line.

Following up on the 2012 Ticketing panel we will be diving a bit deeper into the subject of data, ticketing and marketing. During this panel we want to look at the many ways we can collect data and use these effectively.
Subjects to discuss include obtaining and utilising data from ticketing, Social Media, (Twitter, FaceBook, Google+), LinkedIn, data from online sales of media, such as albums, dvd’s, podcasts and merchandise. We aim to include everything from the “old fashioned” mailing list subscription, audience data from research to crowd funding. Questions regarding how to deal with ownership, protection and interpretation can be brought to the table and we hope to learn from experience of related industries such as music and arts.

We are aiming to have a positive and constructive discussion looking at opportunities and possibilities, the hopes dreams and good things that have come out of the Edinburgh Fringe and how to continue this, making it worth while for all involved.
