Panel 1 – Comparing the Market
This panel is a returning annual discovery of what is happening internationally. We are comparing different comedy markets, focussing on a variety of countries, cultures and regions. We will be discussing cultural, political, economical and language barriers; topics such as local vs expat audiences, growth opportunities and marketing & production challenges.
Apart from introducing new growth markets, we will also look back at areas that have been brought to the discussion in previous year to hear back about the state of play in these relatively new territories, with our panellists but also with the delegates present in the room.

Panel 2 – Working together in Association
Looking forward to how we can develop stronger relationships, consolidate them by working together and continue the discussion all year round. The second panel of the day will see the introduction of several existing Industry Associations and highlight some current initiatives to potentially set up other ways of exchanging information and experience – a chance to discuss further possibilities to operate in strength.

Panel 3 – Deeper into data – Audience, Ticketing and Marketing
As an ongoing topic we have rolled from Branding via Ticketing into Data collection over the past few years. This year we will be able to present some audience research results. An important question to be asked includes why audiences purchase particular tickets? We will look into publicity in the widest sense to try and answers this question, looking into different factors of how to influence the decision of the ticket buyers. Also this year we will bring in experience of related industries such as music and arts where relevant.

Panel 4 – The History of the Comedy Industry – the People behind the Talent
After talking for 5 years about the industry as a market, we would like to look at the people and their passion. Not the talent, but the men and women behind the stage, who drive and support this industry. Apart from looking at some of the well respected and known faces and names, we aim to create some space for the next generation of eager promoters, agents, venue owners. We will be looking back at the development, the current state of the industry and forward into the future.

At request of the delegates of the 2014 CIC we kept the doors closed for media. They were welcome to attend and participate in the discussions, but we asked them not to report on what was said in order to encourage attendees to speak freely. We are reviewing how this was perceived and will decide how to proceed, with or without external reporting for CIC 2015.
